Use Case:
The Cascade pulp and paper mill in Memphis needed to perform maintenance on its paper press cylinder. This involved removing the cylinder from the machine and reinstalling it after maintenance. The cylinder weighs 40,000 lbs, which means that handling it poses a significant challenge in terms of worker safety.
We had the mandate to design and manufacture a motorized lift platform that would allow heavy loads to be handled while ensuring worker safety. This custom equipment had to reduce the time required for such maintenance in order to restart production as quickly as possible.
The challenge when designing this custom lift platform was that it had to be very precise when moving, given that the cylinder location is very narrow. This equipment had to operate inside a factory and have a capacity of 40,000 lb. The operator of the motorized lift platform had to use a remote control to ensure safety.
